The 4 Women's Fashion Must-Haves Our Stylists Are Obsessed With Right Now

Right now, a handful of pieces are separating the women who look like they tried from the women who just…know. It comes down to four things. A tote big enough for your whole life, the straight jean you'll wear on repeat, a sneaker in exactly the right shade of brown, and a trench you'll throw on over everything and call it a day. Sound familiar? Good, you're already ahead. If not, keep up.

1. The Maxi Tote

The oversized carryall that somehow makes you look more put together, not less.

A great women's tote bag has always been a wardrobe essential, but right now the maxi version is the one worth investing in - roomy enough for your whole life, polished enough for anywhere you're going. Right now we're loving the Ulla Johnson Adria Large Tote in Wenge - a structured, sculptural tote in a deep dark brown that goes with absolutely everything. If you want something with a little color and personality, the Kerri Rosenthal Love All Over Tote in French Blue is the cheerful everyday carry you didn't know you needed. And if you're in the market for an investment piece, the Nili Lotan Bianca Bag in Espresso is everything - buttery leather, understated hardware, the kind of bag people ask about.

For the Veronica Beard girl: the Lasso Belted Tote in Acorn is a suede dream. It's giving Western-luxe in the best way.

2. The Straight Jean

The cut that works with loafers, sneakers, boots, flip flops…basically whatever you grab on your way out the door.

The straight-leg jean had its moment and then never left, which is how you know it's actually a classic. Who What Wear editors agree, calling straight-leg denim one of the top jean trends for 2026 because it "doesn't pigeonhole you into one aesthetic.” And honestly, we couldn't have said it better. Our newest arrivals are giving us a lot to love. The Citizens of Humanity Lindz Easy Straight in Vintage Black is the black jean you've been looking for. It’s the one that feels polished but not stiff. The Frank & Eileen Derry Illusion in Black has that slightly dressed-up, slightly downtown energy that makes it feel like a step above your average denim. And the AG Adria Cinched in Copenhagen is for the person who loves a great medium-blue wash. It's clean, versatile, and the cinched waist makes it instantly flattering (and comfortable!).

If you're petite, the Mother Lil Hustler Roller Patch Pocket Skimp was made for you. Great wash, great fit, very Mother.

3. The Sneaker

Brown suede, retro low-profile, and the kind of shoe that makes every outfit look a little more intentional.

The suede sneaker is having a serious moment and not just according to us. Vogue's sneaker trend report for 2026 calls brown suede the most-desired color in footwear right now, spotted everywhere from Bottega Veneta and Prada runways to street style. Who What Wear puts it simply: suede sneakers "exude a rich-looking touch and add instant polish to any outfit." If you don't already have a pair, this is your sign.

The Closed Suede Sneaker in Ferro Brown is the one our stylists keep pointing to. Simple, minimal, incredibly versatile and it goes with denim, trousers, dresses, all of it. The Autry Windspin Suede Sneakers in Tundra and Rutabaga are for when you want a little more personality with earthy tones, and that retro runner silhouette. And the Autry Medalist Mule Sneaker in White is the sneaker for anyone who hates tying shoes (and honestly, we get it).

Also newly in: the Philippe Model Paris Pgal Sneaker in White Sky Blue. A French low-top with just the right amount of cool.

4. The Trench

Throw it on over a white tee and your favorite denim and your look is basically done for you.

There's a reason the women's trench coat has been around forever. It just works. And right now, it's everywhere. Marie Claire called the suede trench coat one of spring 2026's key comeback pieces, and Who What Wear confirmed that elegant dressers are turning to the black trench coat in particular this season. Our trench edit covers both and then some.

We're obsessed with the new pieces from The Loom Atelier: the Scarf Trench Coat in Light Beige (which comes with a matching scarf belt. The detail is so good), the Scarf Trench in Khaki for a more saturated take, and the Back Flare Short Coat in Beige and Black. That flared hem is so elegant, so unexpected.

If you're looking for something more structured and polish-driven, the Veronica Beard Langham Belted Dickey Coat in Navy (also available in Army) is a true investment piece. Or for something a little more relaxed, the Rails Tessuto Jacket in Umber is the laid-back alternative that still looks incredibly put together.
