Ulla Johnson - Inspired By The World.

New York City based brand, Ulla Johnson, has become one of the most loved and respected brands to enter the fashion world. While Ulla Johnson's pieces give off an effortless look, meticulous detail and high end construction goes into each piece. From the block-print fabrics to the handcrafted details, each piece is carefully assembled to create a work of art that will last generations.

As a daughter of archeologists, Ulla Johnson has traveled the word from a young age gaining inspiration from a variety of countries. From a lifetime of experiences and travel, Johnson has gained an appreciation from materials and textiles from around the world. Specifically, Ulla’s mother collected textiles and jewelry which inspired many of the designs throughout her collections over the years.

Influenced by Johnson's love of travel and her background in psychology and women’s studies, Johnson is able to collaborate with women artisans from all over the world. More recently, Johnson has been able to work with alpaca spinners in the Peruvian highlands and folk embroiderers in New Delhi. Johnson is also incorporating handmade African fabrics into her ready-to-wear designs from Kenya. These fabrics are purposely left undone on the edges which Johnson finds fascinating. Johnson states, “I find a lot of beauty in things that are imperfect or unfinished.”

The 2021 fall and winter collection is inspired by the Pedreira D’el Rei Quarry in Lisbon. The collection embodies strength and freedom while utilizing saturated hues.
